3000 N200 0769-B5G - Restart Problems [ Edited ]

hi,

I'm currently running Vista SP2 with 1Gb of memory, and having serious trouble every time i restart my PC.

Everytime i power up the PC from cold it powers on and commences to start up for about 10 secs. I have to repeat this about 5/6 times before it runs the Lenovo Rescue & recovery, which takes about 20 mins to get the PC running again. 

In AVG I've been getting ntoskrnl.exe "change"  then installed SP2 thinking that might solve the problem but 4 other dll files came up as changed "kernel32.dll wsock32.dll user32.dll and shell32.dll" is this contributing to the problem?

the only way around it at the moment is to leave the PC powered on.

Has anyone had this same trouble,

I have virtually the same model notebook, operating with vista, and the same problem, or a very similar one. If I shut it down overnight and restart in the morning, it starts, but then shuts itself down again after 10-20 seconds, just as the lenovo screen disappears and windows is beginning to load up. I press the power button again and it goes into system recovery, the "start up repair" mode, which does get windows going. Interestingly, today when it went into the recovery partition I chose "start windows normally" (or somesuch), instead of the "start up repair" option, and windows did start normally.  If I shut down for only an hour or perhaps two, it restarts without a problem. Its still within warranty but to get this fixed I would have to send the computer away and be without it for weeks. I don't know if its worth it. does anyone have any ideas about a solution to this problem? (I rebooted the system by restorin(g to factory state but that didn't work).

Why dont you try Restoring your system to an earlier date?

Thanks. I tried this and it did restart the computer at the time, but it didn't prevent the same thing from happening the next time I restarted the computer after several hours of being shut down.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my 3000 N200 0769 BEG
When i start the computer after a long time it shuts down after 10 seconds in the first try, but works well in the second.
It's a strange problem and still trying to find a solution...

Follow start->Control Panel->System->Advanced->Boot options

Find checkbox "auto reboot on windows crash" and uncheck it.
next time when windows crashes you'll see an error code and  also the name of file that caused crash.
Posting them here will help a lot. The best way is to make a picture of the screen and post it here.
