3000 n200 finds wireless router but cannot connect to the internet

Hello all,

 

My 2008 vintage 3000 n200 laptop can find a wireless access point but will not connect the internet.  Similarly it will find a network with an Ethernet cable plugged in but will not connect to the internet.  The laptop has a Broadcom BCM94311MCG wireless card.  I was told by a free lance computer repair guy that may be the problem.  I might try to replace the card if I can find one at reasonable price.

 

The wireless problem started about 2 months ago.  I basically gave up 6 weeks ago.  Put the computer aside and let it rest a bit.

 

I am ready to try one last time before give up completely and trash the computer.

 

Ideas anyone?
