BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

[ Edited ]

I set up this notebook, which I like very much, on December 22, 2011.  On that day I had a hungapp message and Windows Explorer is not responding.

On 1/5/12 we got the message Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown, and a BSOD.  We chose to start Windows normally.

On 1/20/12 we couldn't get the screen to load (power  button on - no screen.  The cpu was running because I heard the fan and felt the warm air) I attached the charger to notebook and the power button responded by shutting windows unexpectedly.  Was then able to access notebook with message it was shut down improperly and chose to start windows normally..  When started, the battery had 46% power.)  I don't know if the notebook was in sleep or hibernating - but it had been used about 1/2 hour prior.  Event viewer showed a troubleshooter BUG Report was issued, among other errors.

On 1/22/12 the notebook was sleeping,  Tried to wake it and browser wasn't loading properly.  Closed browser and notevook was fine.

At this point I called Lenovo support and was told I had to have a active problem and to call when the problem was occuring.

Today while in the Admin account I got a message from Windows that Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown.  I checked the Event Viewer and see that this occurred on 2/2/12.  Here are the messages

I ran MemTest for 14 hours and the notebook passed all the tests.

I don't feel that this notebook should be doing this.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  Windows Updates are current.

I've looked at the list of Lenovo updates, but am confused by them i.e., I see items for an Idea Pad G570 - is this an idea pad?  I think it's a Lenovo G570 notebook.  There is a chipset update, but the date is older than the chipset driver in the laptop, but the version starts with 9 as opposed to 8.

Thank you for any help.

Sincerely, Libra

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

I'm disappointed that no one has replied to my request for help. This laptop has experienced BSODs and recovered from bad shutdowns. Something is wrong. I have run MemTest and also ChkDsk checking both items. I'm trying to look at what updates are available and when I go to some Matrix it says there are no matching documents for my product. There is a link for IdeaPad and ThinkPad. I inserted the laptop info there and got to this page: http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=130485 Is this the correct page for updates to the G570 and is it an IdeaPad? Would any of the updates listed help the BSOD? There is only one read-me (for the bios update) and that seems to mention XP in the Win7 64 bit download. Aside from the System error/critical events, I found a faulting application for igfxsrv.exe which has to do with Intel. Can anyone help me with this recuring BSOD and possibly any updates that might help? I am offered two optional updates from Microsoft: Intel Corp. display Intel HD Graphic Family - released August 2011. Lenovo Display - Thinkpad display 1366 x 768 released March 2011 Sincerely, Libra

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

hi libra

first of all, g570 is not an ideapad. it's 3000 serie computer.
secondly, in normal circumstances kernel power message usually points hardware issues. still sometimes windows itself may cause that and according to my experiences performing clean windows installation fixes.

are you able to perform clean windows installation? can you upload the minidump file so i can check it?

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

Hi yigit,

Thank you for your reply.

I found the minidump file which I can't open but I should be able to zip it.  How do I attach it here?

I don't have a disk to reinstall Windows and I wouldn't know what drivers I would need.  I could probably use that One Key Recovery - but that's not a clean install.

Please let me know how I can get that .dmp file to you.  (Thanks also for letting me know what type of a laptop I have.)

Sincerely, Libra

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

[ Edited ]

Hello again.

I finally managed to zip and upload the file to Rapidshare.  Here is the link:

https://rapidshare.com/files/1658651812/MEMORY.zip

This is the reference to two kernel errors that I have received:

C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP\Data\010512-23821-01

C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP\Data|020212-16629-01

I had a problem accessing the file.  The security folder of the file listed System and Administrators - but it had the computer name listed, not mine.  I clicked on add, and selected "built in security principal" and then typed my admin name and it added the computer name to my name. It didn't list me as an admininstrator.  I clicked okay and got a warning from Windows that I am changing the security to system files and may make the computer insecure.  I went through with it and was able to zip the file.  I hope I didn't do any harm.

I appreciate your looking at the dump file.  I hope it sheds light on what the problem is.

Sincerely, Libra

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

can you perform clean windows installation by pressing one key recover button? sometimes windows itself may cause and as i experienced and as i read, installation os fixed.
( yes, it is clean installation )

meanwhile if you get kernel power 41 issue and bluescreen again, i believe you'll need hardware support so it's suggested to contact lenovo support for possible mainboard replacement.

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

Thank you yigit. While I was preparing to do the one-touch recovery, I got another message from Windows saying it had recovered from a bsod again. I called support and was told to do the recovery. I then checked the Event Viewer and found a System Error (Event 11, Source Disk) saying "the driver detected a controller error on Device\Harddisk1\DR1". I called support back and the tech was very helpful and said they would replace the harddrive, so it's on its way to support. Thank you. Sincerely, Libra P.S. I notice the word "spoiler" appears where I had pasted an error message. How do I access it?

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

Glad to know i'm not alone...My girlfriend and I both have new g570's that were purchased in January and we've both had the BSOD at least once.  I've never had win7 on any other computers...these seem exceptionally unstable for some reason.

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

Hi, One of our desktop computers is running Windows 7 64bit and, aside from one problem that the manufacturer fixed, we haven't had any problems or bsod's at all. So I don't think it's the OS. I'm glad the notebook will be repaired. The first two times I called support they told me to call back if it happened again. Good luck to you and your girlfriend. I think it's a very nice notebook but was concerned about the bsods. Sincerely, Libra

Re: BSODs etc on New G570 Notebook

I am seeing occassional BSOD's with id 41 errors too, i have a G570, in preparatiion for having to re-install windows i found this page for the G570 ... http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=130485  I may need this page reference myself sometime in the future.

I suspected perhaps there was something going on with the resume after going to sleep for a while , I have put a

SD chip in with readyboost on it to see if it helps or not....
