the cpu supports 2 dimms because the REAL G575 has 2 and ofcourse that chipset does. Look, Best Buy/ Lenovo was selling Prime Rib on a special day where everyone in the world is eating Prime Rib for 5 dollars but it was shaved steak that tasted like Prime Rib and was labeled and identified and even passed as Prime Rib but was still shaved steak. You only found out what it was after your paid for it and ate it to figure out what it was.
The max RAM this laptop will go is 8 gigs. I popped in a 4 gig stick with no issues whatsoever. I don't see why a 8gig stick of corsair or mushkin Ram or even Patriot RAM would not work.
Well to the 30 hours thing when I saw this laptop retail at lenovo for 500 or 400 or whatever the real G575 is going for nowadays, I was so happy and impressed I was saving that much money and me waiting in line would be worth it and I needed a new laptop after retiring a old dell that was 5 years old. The name is a good name too and the utilities bundled are awesome and I thought I could upgrade easily but I can't.
I am gonna return this and see if I can get the lenovo with the Core I3, fingerprint reader, Intel HD 3000 graphics for 379 at best buy. I know that one has 2 speakers and 2 SO-DIMM slots before I buy it.

Honestly, my position is they should fix this by giving us a replacement notebook to fix this blundering mistake.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son, and now I am faced with the knowledge that I will be giving him something that ultimately will NOT put a smile on his face.
I'm not a techie, (in fact I beta tested LU on a dimension 8400 that is still running strong with only a graphics card update in many years) but I did look at the specs on this and like everyone else, I thought there were two memory dimm sockets.
A call to Best Buy offered me the option to trade up and pay more, but NO refund. And I don't HAVE another 200 to throw at this. Buy.com is happy to take back the additional memory I bought from them..so at least I am not stuck with that.
I have no clue what I am going to do about Christmas now, but I KNOW I will never shop at Best Buy again... and the Jury is still out on Lenovo.

I definitely feel this is a case of false advertising. This is my first Lenovo product but had heard good things about them, they need to make this right.

Very well said, sir. This matter is totally "False Advertisment".

I agree with everyone here, This is fraud and i will not be selling any lenovo laptops to any of my customers. Had they just been honest I would have never bought this model.
I already called the best buy hot line just bring your online information to the store with the laptop for a refund.
This is insane.
I can't wait to get mine, it comes wednesday of next week i'll check it for these defects and return it.

I don't want a refund. I want the notebook that was implied by all advertisements.

Sorry folks I dont see any of us getting a different model laptop. Best Buy and Lenovo can clearly hide behind the clause in their marketing that states they are not responsible for misprints. This is Clearly a laptop made on an existing design but for Bestbuy only for Black friday. I've Read several reports of those upgrading to single stick of 4 gig ram and it works great. Dont care about two speakers so I'm still as happy as I was when I got it for 179.99 also I think Best Buy has extended returns/refunds to Jan. 24th on all holiday purchases so gives those uncertain some time to decide.

There is a fine line between misprint and omission. What we have here is not a misprint. It is an omission of information and disclosure.
