Re: Bluetooth in Y410

The Y410 models sold here in the United States do not have bluetooth built in.  You can learn more about the product specifications on our website here.

I understand that there is a bluetooth icon stencel on the system itself, but bluetooth is not built in.  I hope this helps. :smileyhappy:

Thanks for joining the forum!   I hope you will stick around and share your Y410 experiences with others - whether you have more questions to ask, or have answers to share, you are certainly welcome here.

Hi Mark,

Do you know if it is possible to purchase the Bluetooth parts for the 3000 y410?  I have a Bluetooth dongle but I do not like to have it sticking out the side of my computer and taking one of my USB ports.  I would like to find an internal one if possible.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Bluetooth in Y410

I, too, am interested in an OEM Bluetooth upgrade solution for my Y410 notebook.

It appears that there is a small, PC board/card (easily accessible via a door on the bottom of the notebook)

that houses the 802.11 A/B/G wireless circuitry.

(this existing card is wired to the 'on/off' switch located on the front edge of the notebook)

It's my guess that there is another plug-and-play, circuit card available for the Y410

that has the 802.11 A/B/G (as well as the BLUETOOTH) circuitry on it.

Also, I am trying to locate any information/ part number for the optional remote control (IR?) for the Y410 as well.

Re: Bluetooth in Y410

Maybe one of our friends in India will tell us the part number of their Y410 Bluetooth solution since it appears all sold there are so equipped.

I suspect the Y410 Bluetooth (BDC) is combined (BMDC) with the modem daughter card (MDC) and under the keyboard as in contemporary Thinkpads. My surmise is based upon the Thinkpad solution and the following I located in the specs of an ad for Y410s in India:

"Slots total (free) and type1(1) PC Card, 1(0) Mini-PCIe, 1(0) Communication Daughter Card 1
...

DescriptionBluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR Frequency Bluetooth : 2.4GHz
Wireless Implementation (Form Factor) BDC

After market upgrade from MDC to BMDC is available for many Thinkpads on eBay UK stores. Maybe we'll get one for our Y410s. They come with an antenna.

Who will be the first to lift the hood on their Y410 and post some nudies?

I am also interested in getting my US Y410 an internal bluetooth module.  Did you happen to find the part number?

After a lot of effort, I located a Bluetooth daughter card, P/N 41W1163 for the Lenovo 3000 N100
One could assume that this card will also fit in a Y410
Anybody want to risk it at $89.- a pop?

Edit: Found it cheaper ($40.47) here

Re: Bluetooth in Y410

Nice find, I am just curious if the N100 uses the same connector for the daughter card.  I cracked open my Y410 yesterday and noticed that the modem card is pretty small and seems to use a little six pin connector similar to the bluetooth connector on the modules for the IBM notebooks.  89 bucks is a stiff price for bluetooth though.

Anyone from lenovo want to verify the find?

Would perhaps one of our esteemed forum members in India or Pakistan (or in that vicinity), who has a Y410, be so kind to open up their laptop with bluetooth, report here all the info that is printed on that bluetooth card (incl. measurements if possible) and perhaps put a link to a picture of it here as well?
The USA is holding it's breath, while eagerly waiting for any info.
Thank you very much in advance!
