DVD RW of Lenovo N200 is not playing DVD. But it plays CD perfect

[ Edited ]

Hi forum;

I have been using Lenovo N200 for 2 years.

I installed Windows 7 on it through a DVD. Mean of saying is that I have used DVD on it.

But now I am facing an issue, I am unable to play DVD on it. Light continue blinking of rom. And in My Computer in my G drive I am unable to see the drive contents. It didnt open.

It plays CDs well.

Its part number is MATSHlTADVD-RAM UJ-850

How I can fix this issue? Can I do some thing for it.

Please help. I appriciate your responses.

Thanks in advance.

the cd/dvd drive uses different led lasers to read cds or dvds. it's not uncommon for one of the two lasers to fail while the other remains operational.

You can try a "CO2 spray" (a.k.a. compressed air) to clean all dirty waste "inside" and around the laser eye. If it doesn't work after cleaning, so as yigit said, your DVD laser lifetime is almost gone.
