I have a new Lenovo 3000 laptop (type 4446-36U). I have attached a USB mouse and I use that almost all the time instead of the touch pad. My question is whether their is a way to deactivate the touch pad so I don't cause a problem when I accidently touch it while typing. I would like to be able to easily turn it back on if I don't have the USB mouse handy.
I suppose I could unistall the driver, but if I do this it will not be simple to turn it back on (especially if my wife is using the laptop).
Thanks for any advise.

You can enable and disable the touchpad on the top of your computer, at the right side, there are 4 buttons, 3 of them for the volume, the las one is for the touchpad.

How do you deactivate the touch pad on a Lenovo V570? I prefer a track mouse as the touch pad does weird things. Thanks a bunch.

You can also go into the control panel ,select mouse .
At the right - Device setting - enable or disable - Apply - Ok
For some odd reason it still comes on occasionally - I have to keep going there even though it has disabled , I have to click ok .
Maybe it's a windows 7 thing .

Actually, the disable option is "grayed out." Is yours a V570?

No. I have 300 N100's.
Maybe yours needs a driver for it .

Thanks so much for trying to help. I guess the V570 is different.
