Hi folks,
Firstly, I am wondering why there is no G series board here? Is this the american site for Levovo perhaps? I started off on http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ie/en/DriversDow
I have a Lenovo G570, some of the marketing blurb mentions a combo eSata/USB port. It does have three USB ports in a row on its left hand side and one of these ports is decidedly different from the rest. See image
Can anyone tell me, is this a combo eSata/USB port. I cannot get any eSata cable to plug in there, they physically will not fit. I have tried external and internal eSata cables, so I am very confused. The manual is unclear while some of the marketing blurb mentions the port.
What port is it?
If not a combo eSata/USB, Why is it different to the other 2 USB ports?
Why cant I get a eSata cable to plug into it?
Many thanks

Looks just like my eSata/USB port on my Y560. Never use mine so can't help which cord to use.

and to add to the confusion, there is no eSata label, just a USB label on top. Does anyone from lenovo look at this forum?

all the user manual says is the following.....
Your computer comes with four USB ports compatible with USB devices.
Note: When using a high power consumption USB device such as USB ODD, use the external device’s power adapter. Otherwise, the device may not be recognized, and system shut down may result

Must have a cable with end like this:

I dunno,
That cable terminator has fins/wings on either side. Th eport on my laptop has no such aperture. Is that a photo of a standard eSata (external) cable? If so I have tried one already.

I have the same question. Glad you posted.
I was thinking it was a USB 3 port.
Just a guess. Sure would be nice to have someone who actually works for Lenovo to say. I have search the web, read the manuals, asked the suposed guys who would repair this computer... no one knows.
Exactly how are they going to repair what they don't even know what it is?
Very strang situation.
If you find out, make sure to pass on the info, please.
