Hello all,
Newbie here, so apologies in advance if I don't seem to know much (probably because I don't.)
I recently dropped my Lenovo N500, it slipped off the bed and landed on carpeted floor. It switched itself off, but as it was running on battery at the time I thought the battery just got dislodged.
I turned it on and it was working fine, until I opened internet browsers, windows media player, etc. Firefox kept freezing up, and the music would keep pausing at irregular moments. If i tried to get rid of them in task manager the whole screen would freeze.
I have tried rebooting it, but somehow even restart and shutting down does not work. I tried manual shut down (press and hold the power button), and when it reboots itself it seems to work fine for about 10 minutes and then the same thing happens (computer freezes after I open browsers etc)
Any suggestions?? (last resort taking it to a PC repair shop, as those are quite costly.)
Many thanks everyone
P.S. I have had this laptop for nearly 3 years, so it isn't covered by warranty.

Hi axylia and welcome to the Community,
I would run a Linux live cd or usb stick and see if you have the same things happening.
You could try opening it up and reseating the ram chips, the wireless card and make sure the hard drive is seated in there properly. You could run a hard drive diagnostic from the linux disc or usb.
