Re: Finger print driver for Lenovo 3000 V100

This is a little bit strange - there is no "authentec inc." device (or any other which looked like fingerprint related) in the device manager. I don't have any other Lenovo laptop ready for installation to check if this is normal.

The BIOS for Lenovo 3000 is very simple and there is no trace for Fingerprint.

Again, I would say the device is broken if it didn't work just before the reinstallation.

Re: Finger print driver for Lenovo 3000 V100

have you tried to install drivers manually? ( before, un-install the drivers and restart your computer )

after you locate the .inf file for the driver that you want to install, manually install the new driver. to do this, follow these steps:

- click start, right-click computer, and then click properties.in the tasks pane, click device manager.
- if you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click continue.
- in device manager, locate the device for which you want to install the driver.

note to display hidden devices, click show hidden devices on the view menu.
- right-click the device, and then click update driver software.
- click browse my computer for driver software, click let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, and then click have disk.

- in the install from disk dialog box, click browse, locate an .inf file for the device driver that you want to install, and then click open.
- follow the steps in the update driver software devicename dialog box to update the driver

Re: Finger print driver for Lenovo 3000 V100

I have tried this before...  when I forced the driver for Authentec AES2501, it was shown in Device manager with a yellow exclamation mark as not working properly.

I just tested a live distro of Ubuntu... even in Linux, there is no traces for Authentec device.

Maybe by some strange coincidence, the device is really broken. I am going to dismantle the laptop and maybe try it in another laptop, when I have one....

[ Edited ]

have you tried to re-install intel chipset drivers first?

or try to remove all of the devices under "universal serial bus controllers", restart your computer then check if it works.

if it doesn't work, i'm out of for new solutions or/and suggestions.

hope, someone else can help you.

edit: also suggest you to contact lenovo support line, maybe they can help you.

Re: Finger print driver for Lenovo 3000 V100

[ Edited ]

Basically I have. I tried a completely new installation, removing USB devices etc. Nothing worked.

I am more and more inclining to the fact the device is dead...

Contacting Lenovo support was a first thing I did, but they told me they can't help me and gave me a contact to their service partner, which, later, referred me back to Lenovo support :-)

But anyway, thanks for help

Thank you, but it is not necessary.

I will hand it over to our service partner to look at it.
