Re: G550 WinXp Audio problem

I was working until 4:00AM and found a way to solve the problem, in another topic here in the forum. The key is to help the Win Xp to recognize the media device.

FIRST insall any audio device you can use this one http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69852#audio

the install is going fine and it finds the sound card. This driver doesn't work, but helps.

SECOND then install the driver I have reffered before in my first post, and because Windows already have this hardware the installation of the driver is just smooth and without problems.

WORKS

Re: G550 WinXp Audio problem

Hi,

This solution has worked for me for G550 Audio installation

1. Download ConexantAudioDriver.exe (for G430). This is a 9.12 MB file from lenovo site.

2. Download kb888111xpsp2.exe (google is your friend :smileyhappy:).

then follow the following steps.

PS: Ensure you have uninstalled these if you have previously installed these item.

Audio Driver Installation

  1. Run ConexantAudioDriver.exe
  2. show an error ‘ok’
  1. Audio Patch Installation
    1. Open Audio Patch  folder and Run kb888111xpsp2.exe
    2. Click on “I Agree”
    3. Click on “Next”(You will show a installation progress)
    4. Click on Finish

  1. You will show Found new hardware wizard
  2. Select “This time only” and Click on Next
  3. Select Install from a list of specific location (Advanced) option and Click on Next.
  4. Select Don’t search I will choose the driver to install and click on Next
  5. Select Sound, video and game controller from Common hardware types list and click on Next.
  6. Click on Have Disk
  7. Click on Browse
  8. Go to C:\Drivers\Conexant Audio Driver\XP32
  9. Select a file shown (CJIHER5.inf) and click on Open
  10. Select a driver shown “Conexant Audio Driver on High Definition Bus 220 or 221”
  11. Click on Next
  12. You show an information then click on “Yes”
  13. After that you have shown installation progress,
  14. Click on Finish.

Re: G550 WinXp Audio problem

Sadly, non of the solutions seem to work for me.

I installed: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69852#audio that Shlomo7492 suggested but it doesn't help windows to recognize my hardware. It still says 'no audio device'.

The kb888111xpsp2.exe doesn't work either cause I have sp3, so when I run it it says I already have everything I need.

On the other hand, I have unknown PCI Device in Device manager (with yellow "?" and "!"), so I tried manually to install ConexantAudioDriver on it, but it says that his .inf file has nothing relevant for that device. Allowing it to go online for search didn't help either.

Should also say that I installed XPsp3 which I added some driverpacks so it could work in AHDI, but I had the same problem with normal XPsp3 install (with IDE).

Help anyone?

Re: G550 WinXp Audio problem

I am not sure, but may be the problem is un the SP3. I didn't install anything from Windows update before driver installation and it works.

Re: G550 WinXp Audio problem

Yes G550 and G555 seem to have the same issue with installing the sound in XP. The problem can be fixed if you install SP3. Then you can install the original sound driver from the website.
