G555 High Pitch Noise?

Hello!

First post and first Lenovo!

I recently picked up a G555, i have had it for about 10 days now. It seems to be making a rather a high pitch noise for the first 10-20 mins after you start it up or after it resumes from a sleep. Last week it only made the noise for about 3-5 mins....i think it might be getting wose.

When you use the laptop and the sound is being made it may stop for one second or so when you scroll to the top of a page or similar.

Does anyone have any ideas of why this is or what i can do? Its pretty annoying!

Have you found the cause of the noise yet? Does it make it when the CPU fan spins? Does it do it when the HDD is spinning? Or is it possibly the sound? Do you here it if your PC is mute?

Hi Thanks for the reply.

No i do not know what the cause it. It seems like its coming from the base of the computer, i tested the sound.

The fan seems to run alot, although the laptop is not hot so its not very loud. It maybe the HDD i just dont want any of it to fail.

I thought others may have suffered the same issues but this does not seem like a regular occurance?

I have heard of others having a weird noise when it Loads up then goes away. But only with the 2.1ghz version of the G555. I have the 2.3ghz. I do not have any of the issues the other G555 have except needing the IDE changed in the Bios to install XP. Everything else works great. Which G555 do you have?

Hi I do not have XP installed, just the Windows 7 that came on it.

I have the Athlon M320, the amount of time its noisy seems to be staying longer and longer .
