G560 problem with Firewire ExpressCard

Hi,

I have a G560 and am trying to convert dv tapes from a camcorder to DVD. Looking at various posts of the relative merits of the built in USB ports vs firewire via expresscard I went for the expresscard approach.

The card I bought was

It seemed to fit the slot easily e.g. slotted in and ejected. However as soon as it is slotted in the entire system freezes, including  keyboard, mouse, alt-ctl-delete and the only way out is via a hardboot. I have trawled the net for info but have struggled to find anything. Is there likely to be a compatibility problem somewhere? and advice gratefully received.

Card may be faulty, or not fully compatible.

Try another card, or try the card in another computer.

Thanks for the advice - took the laptop to the shop and plugged a different card in - and hey presto it auto-installed and everything worked.
