G570 splash screen then black screen with cursor...help!

No evidence of HD activity, <ctrl> <alt> <del> repeats the process.

This is a kid's computer and likely was knocked while on yesterday...where do I start.

Any help much appreciated.

it usually points that you'll need to re-install the operation system.
you can try to re-install the operation system by pressing one key recover button.

Tried that before first post - does nothing.

Splash screen is before memory test etc is usually seen...

can you check if the hdd works?
( if you have external hdd box or with another computer )

I have another identical laptop...I could swap out the HDs...

but bios doesn't seem to be active either.

phone call to family comp. tech suggested loose component...is this possibility?

Pressing any function key causes repeating error tone...

still two months warranty on the machine, so decided to send it offinstead of opening it up...thanks for the suggestions.
