G770 - does it have sata iii 6gb/s ?

I thought someone on the forum might be able to help as ive asked the lenovo help desk and they werent even aware the new g770 has usb3. 

I have a sata iii 6gb/s SSD I would like to install in a g770 but before I buy the laptop Id love confirmation of the existence of a sata iii port. Ive noticed the w model has the capability despite lenovo not realising so Im hoping the same is true for the G770 as it has the HM65 2nd gen SandyBridge - which has the capability just depends if theyve included the sata iii port.

Anyone ugraded their G770 with sata iii and benchmarked please let me know.

according to the manual below, it supports 3gb/s which sata 2, not sata 3.

That is the hard drive specs not the actual port specs. 

also the spec sheet is useless. it doesnt even mention the usb3 port the new g770 has..

anyone have actual experience with ssd upgrade speeds being sata iii? seems to be the only way to know and google hasnt helped this time

just assumed that if the hdd supports 6.0, usb also should.

I think I need first hand experience as anyone reading a tech sheet / manual will be in same position as me..

you can't expect usb 3.0 support when the hdd doesn't support 3.0.

as i read on the manual, usb 3.0 is optional and make sure the model supports.

yes the model in question supports usb3. ive already stated that. im asking whether it supports sata iii.

Yes. installed a Samsung 830 256GB SSD full 6Gb/s in to my G770 (i7 2.7Ghz, 8Gb Ram etc) used Norton Ghost 15 to transfer data (nightmare!) and got there in the end. tested SSD and getting around 500Mb/s read and around 410Mb/s write. Drive shows up as full SATA3 compaptable. Boot times down to around 15 sec from 50 sec with 750Gb 5600rpm drive as supplied with Machine.
