Hi
My screen is officially dead. The computer is fine though. So... I want to use it as a desktop replacement. The thing is, that when I connect the VGA cable, I get no signal. I think I am suppose to change something in my Geforce settings, or at least do something so that windows will know that I have connected another monitor through the VGA port.
But - i can't see anything (-:
HELP
I would play with the BIOS (i was told once that there might be a way to make the pc monitor the default one - is this even true?) but again - i can't see anything.
So - is there a way to make the pc monitor light up right from the start?

Does Fn + F7 do anything? I think that's the keys used for switching from the LCD to an external video monitor.

Enter BIOS on boot, F1 key at Lenovo screen.
Under Advanced tab, set Power on Display to Auto.
Sorry, just read your post more carefully!
But, if you start tapping F1 at boot, it should get into BIOS,
even if you can't see it.
When you see no activity (give it 30 seconds?)
you should be in BIOS.
Then try Fn+F7 more than once.
If still nothing, you could try it "blind".
Only problem, I am not 100% positive that the BIOS options
with a Nvidia GPU are the same as mine, with Intel.
Maybe someone with the same will give the required keystrokes?
(Using arrow keys and Enter, remembering that F1 brings up help in BIOS,
so the first key press would be Esc.)
Edit again: Just tried with mine, with Power on Display to LCD Only,
Fn+F7 does nothing, so you either have to hook up a panel, or try it blind.

I appreciate your help very much.
Thank you
I am wondering where will I find someone that will give me the right key strokes. I am assuming not many people will be exposed to this message. Any suggestions? I personally don't know anyone with a N100, but surly there are many out there, i just need to find them (-:
thanks

Did you laptop initiate boot process? (blinking hard disk led is a good signal).

Yea of course. I know for a fact that the computer works fine (if that's what you are referring to). If to be specific, one of the parts of the LCD died (I killed it - with my stupidity, trying to fix something). But when it did, it died slowly, and so I could use the computer, just slowly slowly loosing the ability to see through the dying pixels

Hi.
I have posted this problem, but it got no exposure. I thought a new, more specific title will make a difference.
in short:
1. laptop (N100) screen is DEAD.
2. Connected it to a desktop's LCD monitor.
3. Can't see anything.
4. Need to access BIOS and configure default screen as the external LCD.
5. Need to do this without being able to see anything (blind).
6. Need to know key strokes sequence.
CAN ANYONE WITH THE SAME LAPTOP HELP ME?
What I found online are a few pics of the bios, and one vid that shows how to do this - BUT IT"S NOT FOR MY LAPTOP, it's for an IdeaPad (IdeaPad Bios).
PLEASE HELP

Did the old lcd panel work at all when you removed it?
You could hook it up temporarily with minimum disassembly
and make the bios change.

No, the LCD connectors are broken, and it cannot produce a picture.

Try this:
Hook up external.
Enter bios, F1.
Ppress esc once.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press Enter.
Press F10 to Exit and Save.
Press Enter.
Should now reboot with Defaults.
If no image on external after 10 seconds, enter bios, then try Fn+F7 again.
Note: It only takes about 7 seconds for Lenovo screen to appear
and bios key to work on mine.
