I am in a similar fix. The tech guy said there is a way to update/reset the BIOS without Windows. He said to copy the BIOS to a CD, then boot from that CD. I looked at the BIOS and copied some files to a CD, and booted, but it did not work. Perhaps only the BIOS executable should be on the CD. I don't see how this can work and I haven't succeeded so far. I am almost out of blank CDs, so I'll have to try later...
Good luck!

I am Trying to update the BIOS on my G530-35U to 6get18ww (currently 6get17ww). I did not automatically install when I run the file 6get18ww, maybe because I did not have the battery in place (I forgot) all it did was to put all it's 17 files (BIOS.wph, mfc42.dll, ... winphlash.gid, etc.) in C:\DRIVERS\BIOS\6get18ww.
Are those files the ones you are talking about it?
Actually I will copy all but those txt files into a CD and I will try to boot from it.
otherwise I will just copy large size executable file BIOS.WPH other?
I will report here if I don't forget.
thanks

This is the method I used to flash my BIOS without Windows installed:
Download Hiren's Boot CD (a bootable XP live session)
Burn the iso file to a CD.
Store a copy of the BIOS update files on a USB thumb drive.
Boot the live CD.
Insert the thumb drive with the BIOS files.
Flash the BIOS.
Done
I've done this several times on my 3000 N100 system with great results. Don't blame me if you brick your system!!!
