I have read numerous complaints online about the Lenovo G570 laptop, apparently the hinges are prone to break a few months after use, and whatsmore the customer service teams are supposeduly refusing to acknowledge that the issue is covered under wear and tear..
I am wondering, has this problem been addressed with the release of the G580 laptop? I am no expert, but I assume that the model numbers represent incremental revisions. Does this typically mean component upgrades ie processor or also include fixes such as the hinges of the G570?
Any response would be greatly appreciated as I am considering buying the G580 but need a strong quality laptop. I have heard that Lenovo are the best, my friend has one with a metal case and it seems strong, which models are known for their strength/durability?
I also require a 15.6inch screen with i5, 4gb ram and 500gb hdd, preferably and usb 3.0..
Thanks,
Richard.

G580 is a good model and mostly all the quality measure have been verified before releasing it to the market
It is a normal trend when every any new mode is released all the parameters are verified by the R&D team

You can Google & go through few of the reviews for G580 to know more about the product and user experiences

It appears they changed the bottom case design between the g570 and g580. There is substantially more plastic around the left hinge area.

I have used the old lenovo t61p that I really liked, but it is getting old and slow so I am looking at new ones and was looking at the g serise. I have seen that the g575 has some problems with the case cracking apart, and Im wondering if any one knows if this problem is in the new g580 version, or if any one has had that happen with the new ones.

Just based on the pictures i'd say it's fixed in the g580 line.
In the problematic left hinge area there is substantially more
casing than once was.
