LENOVO 3000 N200 0769BAG Processor Upgrade

Hi,
I would like to upgrade my processor.

My system is:
LENOVO 3000 N200 0769BAG
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz
Chipset Intel GL960/GM965/PM965
RAM DDR2-SDRAM (PC2-5300 / 667 MHz) 3 GB

Can I upgrade this system with this processor:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz that is already in my possession?

Is were a risk to damage the laptop if it is not compatible?

Thank You for Your help and sorry for my English.

Re: LENOVO 3000 N200 0769BAG Processor Upgrade

The Pentium Dual Core T2310 is of a different socket than that of the Core Duo T2250. The T2250 is Socket M and the T2310 is Socket P. You can upgrade to Core 2 Duo T7100, T7300, T7500, T7700 as long as your chipset isn't the GL960. Only the GM965 and PM965 chipsets support 800MHz FSB.

\\ I do not respond to PM regarding individual tech support. Keep discussions in the forum for the benefit of others //

3000 N200 CPU Upgrade.

I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 , model 0769-AUU

Currently has the original T2330 CPU SPECS

Looking to upgrade this to the best CPU possible that this model line can take.. seems I find some conflicting info out there.

Also any kind of firmware/bios updates to allow more then 4gb of mem ? Or the chipset pretty much stuck as is, and limiting what I can use. Kinda sad that cpu can do 64bit, but the board won't allow more then 4gb.

Currently I have the fan/heatsink/cpu cover modified awhile back to reduce temps, was around 15* or more temp drop.

This is only my desk at work, or desk at home, so coolpad always in use.

Re: 3000 N200 CPU Upgrade.

Original specs say T7500, but bios update 3.03 listed this:

  • (New) Implement BIOS support Intel CPU M570, T1400, T2390, T5850, T5670. T5870
  • (Fix) Boot error occurs at Intel ICH8M SATA initialization.
  • (Fix) Fix incorrect Cache size information of T8100/T8300 CPU on SMBIOS Type4 & Type7.

So at least T8300, with bios update, and others in that series or later may be supported.

I think you are stuck with 4 GB though, most likely limited by chipset.

Lenovo 3000 N200 processor upgrade?

Basically, I recently came to this forum to ask about an issue with my lenovo and was very pleased with the responses.

The issue was resolved and I gave my laptop a minor upgrade (new hard drive and new RAM).

Now im wondering is it possible to upgrade the processor? If so, what's that maximum GHz I can go to? And what exactly am I looking for?

At the moment the processor is Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @ 1.50.

Any help is appreciated

Thank you
