Did you try blowing out dust from your laptop?
You'll be surprised how dust can kill your computer...
my little brother had a hp and when it heats up, it
is like a heater in his bedroom. All I did was get a can
of compressed air and aim it at the grate/fan is.
Now the laptop runs quieter and gives off a lot
less heat. (aim your compressed air into the
grate place on the left of the ethernet port)

Hi Paper tape,
did you manage to fix your G550 not starting problem?
I have this same problem. I used my G550 to check emails at night then I did a proper shut down and left it by my bedside. It never started the next morning. All the lights come on but the hard drive doesnt make any noise and the screen doesnt come on.
Unfortunately, I ran out of warranty less than a month ago. So Lenovo wants to charge me $80 even to talk about my system. Any suggestions?

@ harpreet27
start up your computer and wait for a couple of seconds ( till the windows loads )
can you hear windows start-up sound? if yes, possible lch or graphic card issue, you need replacement.
if you don't hear the sound, try to remove/replace or swap the ram sticks.
and let us know if you see lenovo logo at start-up, it's important
if you have external monitor, try to use it.

Thanks Yigit.
But none of that worked.
There is NO start up screen/logo.
A friend of mine thinks my laptop might have gotten too heated up since the fan is very oddly located at the bottom! and may be burnt up the video card or possibly the motherboard. Is there a way to check/test of either of these two are ruined?

I have a G550 that suddenly refuses to start up. The system had been running on battery and had started to beep because of a low battery. I plugged in the charger and went back to other things.
When I tried to use the laptop again, it would not come out of hibernation – at least I assumed it had gone into hibernation. So I held the power button and recycled the power.
The power light comes on, the battery chg light comes on, the disk light blinks once and then nothing – no post, no screen, no fan.
I removed the HD and verified it works. I removed the memory, same problem.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

@snowman58,
I have had the same problem, its been 3months now. I havent yet figured out a solution. I am back to using my old broken laptop
One of my geek friends says its the motherboard. I really dont know how to change that myself and I have run out of warranty.
I took out the hard drive and transfered all my data. Now the laptop just sits around as a gaint paper weight!
Do you still have warranty? Good luck and keep us posted.
