Hi,
I am so tired of this notebook! I bought this notebook a year ago, and the fan settings are driving me crazy! 30 seconds off 1 minute on... again and again! And the notebook always feels cool!!!
This is the only notebook i know that makes such constant noise... Anyone advice? Otherwise it will be my first and last Lenovo!

My 3000 N100 runs cool and the fan does not come on
very often. I use Balanced setting in Vista power saving.
High performance may come on more often?
Have you checked for dust build-up in cpu heatsink?
Remove the cpu cover on the bottom and look for dust
on the copper heatsink fins.

Yes, I 've cleaned the fan, heatsink and removed all dust. My CPU runs at 63°
Fairly cool i think, but my fan controller has a different opinion...

What can I do more? It's a clean Vista installation from the recovery cd's and ALL updates...
Programs running... AVG also latest updates and NOT scanning and Firefox...
A search for Fan on lenovo 3000 N100 shows me that I am not the only one...

I would personally try removing the "thermal module" or heatsink,
clean off cpu and heatsink, and apply new thermal paste.
Use any good quality paste, per manufacturers instructions.
Download the service manual here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
Instructions for removal start on page 65.
This may or may not help, but it is a next step!
