Can anyone please diagnose the problem on my 6 year old laptop?
Screen display problem started after a long hour usage in bed. left handside base was noticeably heated ( where the heat comes out - is it the fan?). Then the screen freezed and slowly faded into white. It wouldn't return to normal with several reboots - on each reboot, it would stop at windows start-up and sometimes the log-in page if lucky, but then freeze and fade into white ish colour, while the laptop is still on. Safe mode booting was of no help. After a month's holiday now it's back on and running as normal.
I no longer use the battery (now use AC adapter), so this problem shouldn't have anything to do with the battery itself. What could be the problem? Is it the fan or the themal pipe?

Clean the whole area . The thermal vents were completely blocked with dust and dirt on mine .
Runs much cooler now .
