Long and short of it is if you have a Lenovo G550 with Intel Cantiga GM45 Codename Montevina in it with a Nvidia Graphics Card which is either 105M or the 210M you can run the P8600.
If you however have the lower version of the G550 with the Intel X4500 you will not be able to upgrade to a P8600.
Hope this helps!

Hi all,
I have a Lenovo G550 2958 with Intel GMA4500 on-board graphic card and 2x2GB Hyundai DDR3 1066Mhz memory.
I recently upgraded to latest BIOS from Lenovo US site to v2.53. Now it runs at 2.0 GHz with a T4200 (Penryn-1M-45 nm) Intel Dual Core Penium CPU on socket 487 P from stock (Dec.2009).
I replaced the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi lan micro card with a more powerfull Intel 5100 B/G/N and works great!
I wonder what is the fastest mobile CPU that the latest BIOS and the Chipset can accept? 800 or 1066 MHz bus?
I discovered also that a new BIOS named v2.54 was around Internet but I never were able to find it, it's true!?!
Thank you very much in advance, sorry for my bad english and many greetings to all of you, Stefano.
