Before: Fan would turn off at around 40'C, and on at around 50'C. When off, the temperature would reach 50'C relatively quickly even if I was just reading a text or browsing the net. The silence would never last longer than 40-60 seconds, so basically you would get the impression that the fan is on almost all the time.
I don't really have enough technical details on the laptop, so maybe this is how it's supposed to work, or maybe it's not. Maybe the hardware can withstand higher temperatures, and the current thresholds are too conservative. Maybe the fan could/should have a lower RPM during "generic", non-CPU-intense use.
I can confirm that this is exactly what occurs with my G560. This leads me to assume that this sort of fan operation is intended by the programmers at Lenovo.
I can also confirm that the EC is what controls the the fan so having a different BIOS version and EC version will not give you any new or revert back changes to the fan operation.
So, Lenovo, is there still an issue with the fan operation on these "value" laptops?

Any update on whether I can reset the EC firmware? Another week gone and I can't use my laptop

Hi greybot!
Do you realy keep waiting for an update?
Personally , I give up... so many months ...waiting...wainting... it's useless.
They probably make an update after one month, it will take another month to decide where to put it and what name to have, then ..other weeks, when everyone will say that nothing was resolved.
And do you know why I am so dissapointed ? Because the only thing that I REALY HATE at this laptop is just the fan problem.

Lenovo has been working on this issue since January. Please keep on waiting because the fix will be release really really soon. That is 5 months already...
JameZ,
Get yourself a G560-0679-aju G560-0679-alu G560-0679-mlu G560-0679-99u and have it shipped over and you will be able to run the tests. Have your friends in North Carolina send you one. Then you don't have to be a middle man and you can actually experiance for the first time the problems of this machine.
The only question I have is are the G565 and new G570's having the same issue?
