i have the same problem but with my lenovo n200 3000. its annoying me. ive cleaned the fan and everything. why are none of the forum admins help with this one. it obviously is the manafactures fault and they dont wanna sort it out. lenovo are a gd brand and soon enough kick sum dell ass. but if there gonna leave customeres stranded it wont go unnoticed by other members of the public. im not saying all of this is true. its just my opinion on the matter on hand. and i thing lenovo should sort it out. even if they have to give new laptops out. it gives a good credability to lenovo and they'll get more customers. i also am running windows xp.

sorry to bump this one,

im also having this problem! and have been for some months,

the laptop crashes during the windows loading, after several hours of being idel!

it always crashes three times, and then loads fine! very very specific and very very odd!

I was having the problem with windows XP, so upgraded to windows 7 ( completely fresh install) but the problem persists!!!

help! this is the ONLY thing letting this laptop down, but its a biggy!

Hi Joe,

I had this issue for ages up to October last year when I managed to sort it by simply setting the BIOS back to defaults. I'll have a proper look when I've got the laptop fired up tomorrow and can boot in to BIOS to give you the actual settings I corrected.

Since doing this my laptop has worked a dream and I've been able to properly hibernate Windows rather than keep switching on, booting to BIOS and then waiting 3 or so mins!!

I agree that it is an overheating problem. Not a bios or a virus problem. I bought an under laptop fan and this seemed to fix it but it came back. So today I unscrewed the plate on the back ( 2 screws) and then took out the fan unit (3 screws) and found a pile of dust. I took out the dust and cleaned it with my vacuum cleaner. So far it hasn't gone dead on me. I'll report back to let you know.

Hi sorry to resurrect this one but i'm tearing my hair out, i've had my N200 0769 for about 3 years and i've always had the problem of it shutting down about 3 times on start up and also it happens when I try to switch it on again when it has been in hibernation. I've sent my laptop back to Lenovo twice when it was in warranty and it never got fixed. I havei nstalled windows 7 on it and still had the problem so I decided to go off what people have said on here and set my bios to defaults now it won't start at all I just get a blue screen with an error message of 0x0000007B PLEASE can somebody help me I really want to get it working again.

P.S I don't believe it is an overheating problem as it does it when the laptop is cold.

have you tried to change ide/ata ( ahci ) settings in bios?
