I recently purchased a Y310, nice unit for the price. I have an original Windows XP SP2 I would like to install on this notebook. This model officially comes with no OS except for DOS however there is a "copy" of XP installed which I will reformat. What I plan on doing is to install Windows on the C partition and my documents etc. on the D partition as I usually do with my desktop computers. If I do this is there a way I can install my XP and still be able to use the NOVO button to restore the system, or do I need to use imaging software such as Acronis?
I saw a thread about Lenovo having a Service Partition when having a pre-installed OS so is this something I can set up? On a 160GB HD would 20Gb for the C drive, 120GB for the D drive and 20Gb for a Service drive work? How would I set up the Service Drive to work with the NOVO button?
