No sound when playing a DVD - 0769-E8G - WinXP

Hello,

have a similar problem as described in contribution from 5/5/08 from MerleOne.

I bought Lenovo 3000 N20 for few days without operating system. I installed WindowsXP and downloaded the drivers

using the lenovo care button.

I can see and hear videos by windows media player without problems or real player, ... , but have no sound when play a dvd. I can see the video from dvd.

Some informations about my notebook:

Celeron M 550(2.0GHz), 1024MB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 10/100 Ethernet, touch pad, UltraNav, Secure chip, FPR, 6c Li-Ion, DOS license

you would need a codec, maybe something like AC3filter or something

there are two versions of audio drivers available for you they are for type(687) and type(769) which one is yours here's the link download the correct drivers

thanks for help.

Now I again installed audio driver 68ar04ww.exe     36,927,832     RealTek audio driver

But it was already installed. I installed almost all drivers from the driver page from Lenovo for 0769, without success.

I tried it with 2 DVDs. These videos have sound on two further notebooks with the same XP and Vista and can be read by DVD-player on TV.

then your soundcard must be having a problem to make sure boot your system with any live linux cd and check out whether sound comes or not

But I have sound when I play a downloaded video stream.  Do a soundcard differ between a stream and a DVD ?  Perhaps it has to do with the code of dvd ?  Perhaps I only have to change an adjustment ?

you need a dvd codec, like AC3Filter....
