Power problem for N500

Hi I was hoping to get some advice on my N500.

 

Whenever I have it on charge it keeps flicking on and off charge all the time which creates an incessent beeping! I took it to a friend and he said the power circuit inside may be on the blink. 

 

Can any one give me some advice, not sure if its worth fixing (no shops round my area will fix it and its out of warranty). 

 

Any help welcome!

Did your friend check the power jack?
Is it loose, or does wiggling the cable cause it to
start and stop charging?

If it is a jack, that is not too difficult or expensive.
If it is, indeed, internal charging circuit, then MB
replacement would be needed.
