There are unpublished bios on latest devices but it looks that the problem is still not fixed ...

AS stated before the fan does cuts off at 43C ... but during normal use temps never go that down .. similarly if put system to sleep even for 2 secs and power on .. fan goes off ..it reactivates @ 56C and then never stops until temps drop down to 43-42C

I urge other users to please check if their fan cuts at 43C or not OR try the sleep/awake to see if fan goes off like mine,

AND i urge lenovo support to release a BIOS fix to solve this problem

try to keep a look at the other forum .. you aint alone there are alot of g570 with the same fan problem .. and try using hwmonitor for tems and check if your fan cuts off at 42-43C . or put your laptop to sleep for 2 secs and power it back .. and check if fan cuts off or not

I totally agree! Famously described the problem. This is the problem.

I want to confirm this exact behavior on my g570.  The fan has been noisy and constant since I got this laptop many weeks ago.  I thought it was a problem with Linux power management software, so today I went and installed lm-sensors and powertop and found that the cpu temps were in normal range.  This laptop has never been booted into Windows so it is definitely not a software problem.  The exact behavior specified happens under at least 3 different Linux distros: Fedora 13, OpenSuse 11.14 and Linux Mint 12, using two different kernels, 2.6.* and 3.0.*

The problem is that having the fan run *constantly* severley shortens the battery life.  At full charge I can only get about 2 hours.

fan turns on at 56c, fan never turns off (because normal running temps never fall to 44)

sleeping stops fan until 56c is reached again.

I feel that 50c should be a good cut-off for the fan, or at least a break point to turn it to low.
