Re: Replacing G570 fan

mar04  you are wasting your time in asking I`m afraid. I have had the same problem ever since I bought this heap of rubbish G570 8 months ago. They are just not interested. Just tell all your friends on Facebook, Twitter etc. not to buy anything related to Lenovo. I have told hundreds. The only way these clowns will take notice maybe, is if their sales are hit over time.  Good Luck!!

[ Edited ]

have you tested latest bios and does it fix the temp sensor ?

workaround is to load fixed dsdt and control fan yourself ...

If you're asking me, then yes, I have latest BIOS (v32) and temp sensor is stuck at 0. I tried that DSDT fix that was posted here and sensor is indeed showing a temperature that seems to be correct - fan starts exactly at 55 and stops at 40 (I wish I could shift that threshold values 5 degrees up). Didn't tried that acpi_call stuff - I don't like that workaround, would rather use something like fancontrol from lm_sensors but it won't work cause we can't even see fan speed.

Re: Replacing G570 fan

Is there a fix for this yet? Can't you just issue a bios update that will at least allow the temperature to be indicated correctly? This post to the thread shows you how to do it!

Re: Replacing G570 fan

I use those tripping points : off=47C / on=57C and 86C for shutdown ... is this risky ?

what are your idle temp and is it stable if not what speed of warming ?

later

About that remaining TZ sensor bug , we need to report to someone no ?

Re: Replacing G570 fan

Hi everyone, is there any news about resolving this problem on windows-machines? New bios from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS018378 fix it?

Re: Replacing G570 fan

I was suffering from fan noise (among other things such as failing to resume from hibernate) but found this to alleviate the problem.

This is for Windows 7 users.

Click the start button and type in power then select Power Management Options.

In the Energy Management window, click the Wheel to the left of the question mark.

Select the Smart Sensing tab.

Check the box Smart noise sensing.

Click Apply. Click Ok.

This made an immediate difference for me.

Hope it helps.

Bios file fix only some problems with bios and HDD (readme file). Still no solution for always spining fan in windows os. Settings in Lenovo energy managment are worthless.

I think we never get fix for this issue...
