Hi there ,
my question is prett simple I guess ,
I wanna rip out my RAM and CPU and replace it with faster RAM and CPU ... ^^
What are my limits ? What CPU can I upgrade to ? and what is the highest possible RAM speed I can
get with the Mobile Intel 945 GM Express Chipset. I found out that one can not simple buy a Notebook
cpu in any mall site , or am I wrong , I just saw desktop CPU's for sale ...
Anyway , I am not asking for site referals , just want to know what my options are , thanks a lot
Ralph

The system service parts show that some N100's were configured with a Core 2 Duo T7200 [2.00GHz]. The Core 2 Duo T7400 [2.16GHz] and T7600 [2.33GHz] are in the same family of processors as the T7200, therefore it would be safe to say that you can upgrade to those. However, you may or may not experience problems with heat if the heatsink/fan cannot dissipate the amount of heat generated by these processors.
May I ask, what processor is in your N100 at the moment?
As for memory, you can utilize 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 667MHz memory. A maximum of 4GB according to chipset specifications.
Also, I would recommend a 7200rpm hard drive if you don't already have one installed in your N100. I would recommend this before the processor upgrade.
Another question, are you using Vista or XP?

Hi there ,
thanks for the kind feedback , The CPU that came with the notebook is a Intel Celeron M 430 1.73 GHZ .
The 80 gig HDD is in fact a 540rpm drive , (bummer)
I use windows xp (of course) ^^

Before proceeding to upgrade the components, can you run CPU-Z and verify that you are in fact running a 945GM or 945PM chipset.....
Download and run CPU-Z
Go to the "Mainboard" tab
You will see an item labeled "chipset"
Please post your findings.

That sums it all up. The 945GM chipset supports the aforementioned Core 2 Duo processors.
Happy upgrading
