Windows 7 32-bit on 3000 Y410 wireless slider switch problem

Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7 32-bit on my Lenovo Y410, and drivers mostly work out of the box. I have a problem with the wireless slider switch however. The switch is not responsive when cold booting (wireless stays off), but works fine when waking up from sleep mode. I have tried a installing Lenovo's Vista drivers for the Intel wireless card, as well as installing BroadCom's Bluetooth driver.

Anything else I can try to install or tweak in the registry?

check download page if there's bios update.
also, try to re-install/update power management. it may help.

Updated BIOS from 05CN39 (v1.10) to 05CN63 (v 3.05), which did not help. Next I installed the Vista 32-bit Lenovo EnergyCut software. Now I see the little blue square icon when sliding the wireless switch and when pressing fn+f5/f6, but the wireless LED does not come on, and Windows 7's Mobility Center still shows wireless is switched off.

Just for interest sake, I booted a live Linux CD, and the slider button and fn+f5/f6 works. I have a feeling this problem might be ACPI related.

Any other suggestions?

have you checked bios if there's any option to activate wireless?
which version of the power manager are you using?

The BIOS does not have wireless settings, and wireless would not work in Vista and Linux if it was disabled in the BIOS. The Y410 download page lists the "Lenovo Energy Management driver" as v1.01.00.01. I'll check tonight what the tray icon reports the version as.

EnergyCut tray application reports the version as v2.0.1.1

Nope, doesn't work. It reports the same version: v2.0.1.1

I've tested both wake from sleep and wake from hibernate now, and they both turn on the bluetooth LED (orange LED) immediatly after wake, after which I can turn on WiFi as-well with fn+f5. Cold boot still cause the slider switch to be dead with no bluetooth or WiFi LED.

I'm hesitant to try the Lenovo ReadyComm program as well (it's a big download and no Win7 version for y410). Do you think it's worth a try?. I have a feeling this is a driver/ACPI problem, and no amount of installing user programs is going to fix it.

I just found another problem. Audio is also dead when cold booting (Intel HDA driver seems to load fine), but works fine when waking from sleep...
