XP drivers for N500

Hi all,

I'm installing XP on a client's machine and I'm having real problems finding the right drivers, I know there are posts about individual drivers for the N500 and people are being sent to the driver matrix here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72514 but I have installed almost all of the drivers and I still have Audio Devices, Base System Devices, Ethernet, Modem and Video card problems in Device Manager. Please help!

I must ask, have you read the install instructions Carefully?

Downloaded file may be "extracted" to a directory on your hard drive,

you then have to navigate to that location and run the Setup program.

And do the Intel Chipset driver first.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Yes, I've been doing this kind of work for quite a while and the installation files seem to be being installed. I guessed at the Chipset one being the key and have installed this one.http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-71014...I will do it again now to make sure but I'm pretty sure I have tried it..

Well, that does look like the correct Driver Matrix you posted earlier.

(The latest link you posted is dead, however.)

Thanks for that, yes, it was installed but I reinstalled it just in case but no joy :-(

In Device Manager, I get yellow exclaimations for lots of Other Devices that make me think that some board/chip does have a driver. The audio, bluetooth, ethernet controller, video and modem all have yellow exclaimations, even though I have installed all the relevant drivers from that matrix I pasted the link for...I'm a bit stumped unless I have a hardware fault somewhere...background was I just reformatted after a severe rootkit invasion, thinking I had the website links to the Lenovo drivers....machine is out of warranty

Thanks Andy for the link, read through it but, unless the ThinkVantage network connections, system toolbox or rescue and recovery will activate some piece of hardware that is preventing me from installing the audio, network or VGA drivers, I can't see how this will work. I have installed the drivers that appear later in the instructions by downloading them to a hard drive, putting them onto the target machine and extracting them; they seem to install with no conflict but the drivers remain uninstalled in Device Manager. I'm using XP SP3 on a Lenove N500

After they Extract, are you going to C:\drivers\*

and running the relevant Setup programs?

OMG! No joke 15 years in IT and I forget to RTFM (read the f-ing manual) and have committed a basic schoolboy error!

Typical! Always the simplest things first!

Really sorry to have taken up your time, I was absentminded just expecting the drivers to be installed rather than just the installer files!!
