what is the best way to charge battery/use laptop?

I have a G570 notebook and would like to know if it is better for the battery to leave it plugged in all the time (at 100%) when possible, or is it better to charge it when notified by windows that it has reached 11% and charge at that point to 100%.

We've been charging it when it gets low and disconnecting at 100%, but I'm wondering what is best for the battery.  We leave the laptop in one spot, so we don't need mobility.

(My Lenovo Energy Management doesn't work properly, so I can't use that.)
