Earlier this summer, I purchased a Lenovo 3000 K100 (Model #57061330) with Vista and I was wondering if anyone has found a compatible internal modem for this model?
I see this accessory for $19 at the Lenovo store: V.90 Data / Fax Soft Modem P/N 41U3212 but Lenovo's website doesn't provide any compatibility information. ![]()
In case you're wondering, I want this internal modem for dial-up connectivity as a back-up. I live in a rural area with only Wireless DSL (line-of-sight) broadband which is not nearly as stable as civilized FIOS/UVerse, Cable, DSL...
I pulled an internal modem out of an older PC but there was no compatible power source on the K100 motherboard that I could see and it didn't look like the PCI slots were the same. Based on page 9 of the hardware manual, I only have one slot occupied (the WinTV-HVR-1800 card) in #16.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Steve

Uh, unless I missed it, I don't see the Lenovo 3000 K100 listed on the website you provided. Did you see it? I had already checked this website and it's the one that should be updated to add the consumer-oriented desktops.
But thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten that I had posted this. Late last year, I had to escalate within Lenovo to get an answer but finally got one:
Hello Steve,
I have researched your inquiry and i can confirm that p/n 41U3212 will work with the K100.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance and I will be more than happy to help you.
Thank you
