this is a regular message on my Lenovo IdeaCentre K320 (which is about 1 month in my use)...
as others have noted. I close the program with no apparent negative effects... just annoying

I have the same problem on the same model... been happening since I bought it six months ago. Other boards indicate it's a software problem but which software? What is a modeswitch?

I just bought a new Lenovo last week and also am having this problem; too bad that still no one seems to know what's causing it or how to fix it. Oh and I also had trouble with the upper USB ports, I immediately returned to the store and swapped it out for another of the same (so far so good). I hope I don't regret not buying another brand....

Same problem here - had computer for about 2 years up until now problem has just been irritating but is now much more serious. Yesterday working with large Excel spreadsheet and Outlook preview of attached doc - modeswitch stopped working THEN, "Please wait, recovering document...." After recovery of Excel spreadsheet 13 MONTHS OF DATA IS GONE!!! So look out this problem can be serious. Does anyone know what the repercusions would be of removing/deleting LitModeSwitch.exe? I can't believe this post has been going on so long with no one having a clue how to fix it. I hate Lenovo.

After Angela's post I got real worried, so I called support. A man named Larry thinks it's the speed dial not coming up causing the problem. He RATted me and uninstalled Power Control Switch. Hopefully that'll fix it; if not I'll post back.

I am the original poster on this problem. I would suggest that you stop using the Power Dial feature provided by Lenovo. It is causing the problem. I have had no problems with this error since I stopped using the Power Dial feature.

How can I stop using the power dial? It seems to be either turbo, auto, or cool. But there is no option for not using. I am getting the modeswitch error every time I start the machine.
