Windows 7 will not start

[ Edited ]

Hello, I had an issue during installation of a program and now my windows files are corrupted.  I tried all the basic recovery options, but none worked.  Lenovo's site is a bit difficult to navigate (spent hours looking), so I bring my question to the community.  Does anyone know how I could get in touch with Lenovo in order to get a windows 7 recovery or even an installation disc from them so I can perform a clean install or something?  Thanks!

I do not have a warranty, if that matters.

Re: Windows 7 will not start

Hi Frogman3 and welcome to the community,

Is this a clean install or a factory preload?  Have you tried to do a system restore from Windows save mode?  F8 at startup?

If this is a factory preload have you tried the Onekey recovery approach?

Dave

Hello!  The PC came with windows 7 pre-loaded.  I've tried doing all the restore options and safe mode - nothing worked.  Not sure what the OneKey thing is.  Technically, it's a desktop so I don't know if it's a laptop-only thing  (couldnt find a desktop forum, but i figured this was a general-enough question)

Re: Windows 7 will not start

Hi Frogman3,

What model do you have?  Is this an all-in-one desktop?  Depending on what model you have, there should be a little button close to the start button.  If you push that at startup, it should put you into the recovery and you might be able to recovery your machine to its factory settings.

F11 at startup should put you into recovery also.  If you can't get it to work, you would have to get a set of restore discs from Technical support.  Let me know what happens and if you need the number to call.

Dave

It's an H405, but I don't see any button besides the power button.  When we purchased it, it was only the tower - no monitor, printer, etc.

Hi Frogman3,

Does hitting F11 at startup put you into recovery?

1-800-426-7378  Here's the number for Tech Support.  You should be able to get a set of restore discs from there if the F11 doesn't work.
