Interesting discussion here, am asking engineering on the Energy Management 18.104.22.168 and check with the web team.
As for the others could you try installing the 22.214.171.124 for the Z560/Z460 and see if it helps.
Engineering has advice not to install the 126.96.36.199 on the Y560.
I will post once back on this again once engineering has advice us.

YES it is NOT a good idea to install that update (188.8.131.52 on Y560) !!
7 MB that make your i7 feeling like a PII 266.... ;-)
Uninstalling doesn't help, I reinstall windows at the moment....
Is Bios 71 better or worse than 59? Windows Index refreshing isn't that important for me.

I am getting tired with the issues related to my Y550p laptop (keyboard fault, 5.1 via hdmi issue, remote control issue, bright display...not saving my sttings, slidenav....)
This time the brightnes control is not working at all. Fn+ up, dwn not working, changing power setting doesn't do anything either.
It works after reboot but only for some time, then no longer.
Please note that the brightness control OSD comes up but nothing happens.
What can be the reason this time???
I have changed my previous laptop to lenovo but now I am seriously thinking about selling it
I would realy apreciate if someone could help me out.

Yeah I have updated the nVidia drivers in order to get the 5.1 sound via HDMI working. As this is still not working I will uninstall it as you mentioned. Do you know which version I should have?
Why ta heck are they releasing updates if these are causing issues? You say that BIOS upgrade causes issues as well, geeeee that's terrible!!
Thanks for the tip! Will try and let ya know.

GUYS!! I have found the solution to ALL Ideapad Y560 problems!!
1. Uninstall ATI drivers (both 8.752 and 8.702) reboot
(Windows should install standard VGA driver)
2. Press F12 on the BIOS screen FAST!
3. Enter Setup
4. Disable "switchable graphics" to "discrete graphics" save and exit.
5. Download the latest ATI drivers from the AMD site (currently Catalyst 11.2)
6. Install newest drivers, then reboot!
Energy Management works 100% and I was able to update to the latest drivers fully stable!!
Let me know if it works for you!
PS: Screenshots as proof!
