I recall when my X220 arrived I installed SimpleTap, and it worked as shown on the bottom left hand video on this Lenovo site.
http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/simple-tap/
This shows that the SimpleTap works, using one's fingers, on an ordinary X220 (NOT tablet).
This function now does not work on my machine. I expect that the problem is between the seat and keyboard and may have something to do with installing an MSATA drive and reinstalling Windows 7.
However I would like to have confirmation that there are ways to make SimpleTap work on an ordinary X220 not using the mouse but using the fingers.
Of course with Windows 7 SimpleTap has little value but I hope that something similar will work for Windows 8 and so am keen to check that such a use of the fingers on an ordinary Windows 7 X220 is possible.
thanks

I'm confused. The bottom left hand video at that website doesn't show any fingers. It's all mouse and clicking.
Your X220 (non-tablet model) does not have any touchscreen, so putting your fingers on the screen won't do anything.
What exactly are you trying to do?

The right hand video at 00:35 through to 01.15 secs shows Erin Stewart using his fingers on an X220.
And the machine I think is an X220
Am I incorrect?
Sorry for the confusion over the left and right.

that is an old video, before X220 existed, with the first version of simpletap. the systems he is using are X201 tablet and T400s. Those systems both have touchscreens. your X220 does not. of thinkpads currently being sold, only X220 tablet models have touchscreens.

thanks for clearing the point about the video on the SimpleTap page.
I have looked again and found
http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/ion/X220/inde
and the features video on this site at 02.50 or so mentions SimpleTap touch technology on selected systems.
I have been told that some of the 'highend' lenovo systems did have/do have the function not of a full touch screen but of a very basic touch the screen and the mouse moves to that point.
Please let me know if at any time at all the non tablet lenovo laptops had a simple simple, not a full touch screen with gestures and the like but just a capacity, a function, to just poke a finger at the screen and make something happen.
I notice that the
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/
was last updated on the 1st june 2011 and it may be that the part before that was different.
thanks for considering this.

Since there is no touch screen on the regular X220 then, should I just delete SimpleTap to not take up space on the drive?
