Simpletap difficult to open

I've got simpletap installed and working, but I've noticed that it's rather hard to open using the gesture. I generally have to tap several times, sometimes more, just top get it to open. Then it works perfectly. Are there any tricks to making it easier, or a way to calibrate it, anything? I'd apreciate any input.

The computer is a X200 Tablet (7449)

try tapping with the pads of your fingers rather than the tips.
