Is there a way to turn off SimpleTap to stop it starting up with windows?
Thanks

SimpleTap is started by the Task Scheduler of Windows. Type "Task Scheduler" into the start menu. Then find the Lenovo folder, and you should see 2 SimpleTap tasks in there. Right-click on them and choose "disable".

Rebuilding the assembly cache (the ngen update trick) does not seem to permanently solve the slow startup. I noticed a degrading cold start performance with SimpleTap.

I went to the task scheduler and can't find anything with simple tap. I'm having trouble with enabling it for startup. I want it on but can't figure out why it won't start upon startup.

gregs1992,
This was a bug in SimpleTap version 2.
Upgrade to version 3 and then SimpleTap will start automatically after rebooting (after you run it for the first time)

SimpleTap version 3 also has performance problems.
For example, try the following.
SimpleTap performance gets slower and slower ( and slower ... ).
1) Click the red simple tap button.
2) Open a tile's settings menu ( Right-Click on a tile )
3) Left-Click somewhere in the background to close the tile's setting menu.
4) Repeat 2 & 3.
After about 10 opens and closes, it takes about 10 seconds ( ten seconds )
for the tile's setting menu to open and close.
What is the solution to this problem?

Thank you for reporting this. The SimpleTap team is already working on it and I think a patch should be available soon. I will update the forum when it's available.

All,
Thanks for the post and resolution. Just wanted to add that I added the ngen update trick to be run daily in "Task Scheduler" since it was noted that it degrades overtime since it doesn't take too long to run and boost performance. Daily may be overkill but at least I know I shouldn't experience degradation =)

Tell the SimpleTap team there is also a GDI object leak in SimpleTap and to read http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc301756.
