I've just installed 10.04 on a spare ssd. Works fine, but can i disable the integrated front speaker without disconnnecting it. On openSuse there are toggles for the headphone and the speaker. Are I'm missing something...

Hi,
in case you are using Als Mixer, then you can run following command from the terminal:
alsamixer
It should bring up alsamixer. Scroll to the right and the left, and up and down to toggle percentage. You will be able to turn the speaker (possibly INTERNAL speaker not pc speaker) to 0, and front speaker up. try experimenting with the different vaules in alsamixer.
Cheers

I've tested alsamixer just before, but there is no separate mixer for this little speaker ![]()
Just for the records, openSuse reports a Realtek ALC888, Ubuntu 10.04 reports a ALC1200... Alsamixer on openSuse had a toggle to switch the headphone and the internal speaker on/off.
But, thanks for your help ![]()
