Can T400 run Linux OS?

i want to setup Fedora core 9 on my laptop ( Thinkpad T400) but i am not sure it's driver be supported. help me, pls!

probably will work, ya.  but you should try the fedora 10 beta instead.

I would rather recommend you to install Ubuntu 8.10 beta or waint for 15 days to ge ubutnu 8.10 FCS.

I know that it support wireless network card and that ATI graphic card.

PS: What ever Operating system you installed, please let me know wheter the integrated camera works or not.

actually, I'm an ubuntu 8.10 beta user myself, and I recommend it.  I just thought you had a preference for fedora.  Get the newest, whatever distro, for best support.

Can you please let me know whether the Lenovo integrated webcam works in ubuntu 8.10?

don't have one unfortunately... actually i'm still waiting for my sl300 to come since august... but I know the t400 has pretty standard hardware.. intel chipset and whatnot.  should work fine if you have a new 2.6.27 kernel.

Fedora 10 preview running nicely on my W500 so this should run well on your T400.  F10 final will be released 11/25.

I'm getting frustrated with ubuntu 8.10 on the sl300.  I want the new intel driver as fast as possible, so I think i'm going to switch to fedora.  Any advice?  I used redhat a loonnng time ago when it really sucked... from redhat 6.2 to 8, i believe.  At that time they were using a crappy broken version of gcc and I kept getting errors during compiling and wondering why.  Got pretty frustrated.  I've been using ubuntu and debian since then b/c of apt, but I hear yum is pretty decent.

You may also want to test Mint 6.0 which should be out in a few weeks...I've had excellent experiences with previous and current versions on ThinkPads...

Real clincher for me is annoying wifi with my particular atheros card in Ibex they blacklisted the module for a really stupid reason, i think I read somewhere it's because it didn't work at one point.. and they didn't want to break people's workarounds by fixing it properly.. and I want the latest and greatest intel driver.  I think the bleeding-edgeness of fedora is appealing for now, but I'll probably go back to ubuntu when 9.04 comes around.  Mint doesn't seem to offer anything special to me over ubuntu and debian except extra lag time.

Btw, typing this on fedora right now.
