Fan never stops on Ideapad Z370 when plugged in

I'm having an issue with my Ideapad Z370 where the fan will not stop running no matter what the temperature is when the laptop is plugged in using the AC adapter.  If I run the laptop off of the battery, the fan starts and stops based on the CPU temperature.

The issue is exactly the same as the one posted here for the T61:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/T61-fan-runs-all-the-time-on-AC-does-not...

The above post is about 3 years old, with no resolution, so I was hoping that someone has at least figured out a workaround by now.

I've tried to use fancontrol, but lm_sensors is unable to detect my fans using sensors-detect.  I've also tried taking a look at the BIOS, but there are no options for power management (if anyone knows how to pull this up, that would be awesome).

Any ideas?

[ Edited ]

I am also investigating on Lenovo G470 ...

Can you paste that output to comparre :

sudo dmidecode
Product Name: 20078
Product Name: Base Board Product Name

Handle 0x0010, DMI type 27, 15 bytes
Cooling Device
Type: Fan
Status: OK
OEM-specific Information: 0x00000000
Nominal Speed: 2000 rpm
Description: Cooling Device Description.

Have you tried to check the ACPI dsdt ?

Also this thread could be a start :

Re: Fan never stops on Ideapad Z370 when plugged in

Thanks for the info!  dmidecode didn't provide any information about my computer's fan, but here are the results in case I missed something:

I took a look at the ACPI dsdt, but I'm not sure what to look for.  What should I be seeing?

Re: Fan never stops on Ideapad Z370 when plugged in

Well I expected you to get more infos than on mine ( g470) ie :

sudo dmidecode | grep -i fan
  Type: Fan

about dsdt it looks that you are a bit lonely if you search for 4ACN33WW
