Re: LInux

I have T500 and use Kubuntu on a regular basis but also had other distributions installed such as Debian, Mandriva and Sidux and everything works as it should.

Not sure about SL Linux compatibility but the easiest way to find out is to download a LiveCD of whichever distribution you fancy and test it. If the LiveCD works well then it will work well once installed.

Also, see this: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:SL300 (although it seems to be a bit outdated as I know that the Intel 5100AGN Wifi works under Linux nowadays)

Hello

You have t 500 I know you can use most of distributions on your laptop but mine is different

What distribution can i use for my SL 300 where all drivers would work including FN keys and all drivers?

Re: LInux

Hi .

I use Kubuntu on both a T60 via a pen drive and also fully installed Kubuntu on a s10 which works like a dream.

I have also tried Ubuntu netbook remix and tried the moblin ubuntu remix as well on both and both were fine except or probs with the wireless not being recognised on the s10 which was a pain but I am told very fixable

Which flavour has grabbed your attention?

Re: LInux

[ Edited ]

hi I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my thinkpad SL500 (dualboot with windows XP).

no, not everything works as is planned by the manufacturers of the laptop's buttons.

Side buttons (blue one for RnR and the volume ones) do not work and neither do the Fn work normally.

I believe it's due to the laptop being manufactured with only Windos in mind.

I don't care though and kept Ubuntu anyway.

About the drivers, from what I understand the drivers you are referring to are needed for Windows, while Linux will come with its own drivers.

Not very experienced in all this, I just report my experience.

EDIT:

Note that after installing Linux you might want to find a solution to replace the Rescue and Recovery, if you used this utility with Windows (an idea would be Clonezilla though I haven't yet tried it myself).
