hello vaibhav welcome to the forums
did you try using the live cd of ubuntu?was it working fine then?try using an another cd or if you have downloaded the iso image there may be a problem with the integrity of the image..check the cd for defects during the initial booting stage from the cd

Hello ,
Thanks for replying, well I do have iso file and I have made one fresh cd from this iso file and I have tried to install ubutu on other desktop machines and this cd is working fine and when I am trying to use it on my laptop it is not working. Is there any problem in burning the cd with 52X speed or something???
I will appreciate your reply.

No , not yet
Few people said that this configuration of my laptop is not supported(Which I think is not possible), few says that it is due to bad drivers in my laptop (some sata driver problem).
I dont know what to do, may be today I will format my laptop and will install XP again and then will try the ubuntu installation.
But meanwhile if you have anything for me which can help me out then do let me know,it will be a great help.

Would you be able to try the following tests?
1. Can you try another distribution? - I would think something like OpenSUSE 11.1. It's relatively new and those guys usually put a lot in their distro in terms of drivers, etc. Depending on your bandwidth availability, you may be able to do a network install.
2. I'm not familiar with Ubuntu, but I usually only hear good things. If you have more than one machine, could you create an installation server on another machine and do a network installation on the device that's causing you problems?
Good luck.
