T30 BIOS update for/under Linux to version 2.10 not available, but possible or not?

Dear forum,

I have a Thinkpad T30 :

ThinkPad BIOS 1IET64WW (2.03b), EC unknown

thinkpad_acpi: WARNING: Outdated ThinkPad BIOS/EC firmware
thinkpad_acpi: WARNING: This firmware may be missing critical bug fixes and/or important features

So I decided to update the BIOS, but on the support/download page under:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-42694.html

I got the newest BIOS 2.10, but the description is saying, to just run it under Windows XP. I hate windows. sorry.

But under the alternate l link for the linux Disk under:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-45745

I got a download for a BIOS v2.02, which is older than I have already installed.

My questions are:

1) Why you have no executable for Linux ? and

2) Why is the BIOS version for linux disk so old and not the latest version like for Windows?

3) Can I run the latest BIOS with wine ? I'll propery will try it. At first I have to look into the old linux disk  BIOS script, which prepare a disk for linux. I hope aI can adapt it with the latest BIOS version...

Every idea or help is welcome.

Sincerelly yours

Chris. H.

Welcome to the forum!

Which distro are you running on that T30? I've had both older and newer BIOS and never bumped into an issue...

Cheers,

George
