Testmem86-v3.4

I have a Thinkpad t60p (8744-J2U) with Fedora 8 install.  Certain programs that had been running recently now produce segmentation faults.  I installed memtest86-3.4 and it indicates memory error in the BIOS area.  Laptap sent back and Lenovo for repair.  The tech indicated that the motherboard was replace and the BIOS updated.  Test still indicates same error.  Has anyone on list had experience with memtest86?

Re: Testmem86-v3.4

The testing program is memtest86-v3.4 not testmem86.  Sorry for confusion.

Re: Testmem86-v3.4

I have used memtest86 on many computer including my T60 and my R61 without any problems. I did encounter one odd thing with an IBM Netvista computer. I ram memtest on 7 identical computers and they all showed memory failures within just a few minutes of starting memtest. Changing memory did not help. I think memtest did not like those specific motherboards.

Re: Testmem86-v3.4

Lenovo repair won't except the results from memtest86.  Is there another test program that runs under vista that checks out the BIOS memory?

They like PC Doctor results. I don't know if it will test BIOS memory.
