ThinkPad R61 w/Linux

I just purchased this ThinkPad R61 with Linux, and it seems to have a few glitches.  The ThinkVantage blue button does nothing at all when you press it.  The DVD program "Totem" does not play a DVD, comes up with error message as follows:

Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because you do not have the appropriate plugins to handle it.  Please install necessary plugins & restart.

Anybody got any idea?  I am relatively new at this, so any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

For DVD player, get VLC so something.

Hey I'm assuming you have OpenSuse on your computer.  I'm currently running Ubuntu on my R61 and its flawless.  If you go over to www.ubuntuforums.org they can help you.  They'll help you even if you run Opensuse.  Just tell them your specs.

Yes I have run DVD Movies on Ubuntu that asks you to download codecs.

What is the ThinkVantage button supposed to do while operating under Linux?

Nothing, unless you map it to something. There is no ThinkVantage program for Linux.
