x220 HD 3000 + Ubuntu 12.04 64bit + compiz constantly crashing

Anyone using 12.04 64 bit on X220? I find the Unity 3D desktop environment to be very buggy - compiz crashes constantly, system logs out or hangs randomly. 

 

I had to revert to Unity 2D with no desktop effects enabled to stabilize the system. Yet, there are random graphic artefacts. Im suspecting issues with HD3000 intel driver. 

 

Anyone else seeing those issues?
